If your child is absent, it is his\/her responsibility to call teachers regarding make-up<br \/>work.<br \/>Teachers with habitual absence may be asked to step down and their class will be subbed by<br \/>another teacher.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Classroom Behavioral Standards<br \/><\/b>Willing submission to the following standards is expected from each child. Your efforts to<br \/>support the teachers and to help uphold these standards will aid in a well-run and respected<br \/>program.<br \/>Students must respect the rights and properties of others and treat those in authority with<br \/>respect.<br \/>When talking, students should use an appropriate conversational tone.<br \/>Students should be punctual to class.<br \/>Students are expected to listen when others are speaking and raise hands for permission to<br \/>speak in class.<br \/>Writing and passing notes, tossing objects, and playing with irrelevant objects will not be<br \/>allowed in class. All electronic devices, such as cell phones, iPad, iPod, Tablets, Laptops, etc.<br \/>must be silenced or turned off and put away during class unless use is permitted by the teacher<br \/>for class.<br \/>Teachers, assistants, staff and other adult volunteers should be addressed with the appropriate<br \/>titles of respect, specifically Mr., Mrs., or Miss unless otherwise communicated.<br \/>The teachers may request additional classroom standards as needed.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Discipline<br \/><\/b>Each teacher establishes reasonable rules and discipline procedures for his\/her class; however,<br \/>no form of corporal punishment will be allowed. Students need to clearly understand the<br \/>teacher\u2019s expectations and the consequences of wrong behavior. If a child is deemed to be<br \/>involved in a breach of behavior during the program, requiring correction, the following<br \/>procedure(s) will be implemented:<br \/>Verbal Warning: If the offense is minor, the teacher may first give an oral warning.<br \/>First offense: The teacher will take the child quietly aside and discuss the nature of the<br \/>misconduct with him\/her.<\/p><p>Second offense: The first step is followed and the teacher will contact the parent and arrange for<br \/>a conference between the teacher, Team Lead, and the parent.<br \/>Third offense: A conference with the student, parent, team lead, and program lead will occur. A<br \/>third incident may be grounds for expulsion from the class or program.<br \/>If a child is unable to bring his\/her behavior under control, they may be removed from the<br \/>classroom and taken to a parent or HFEC Lead.<br \/>All teachers, students and families involved in the program are expected to conduct themselves<br \/>in a manner that reflects honor upon themselves, their family, New Hope Church, and<br \/>homeschooling.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Guests &amp; Visitors in The Classroom<br \/><\/b>Guests are welcome to join during the enrichment times at church for visiting purposes only,<br \/>however, unregistered children are not permitted into classrooms. All children under the age of<br \/>18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on church grounds. Parents of enrolled<br \/>children may occasionally wish to sit in their child\u2019s class and will be welcomed by the teacher.<br \/>We ask parents to notify teachers prior to sitting in.<br \/>Behavior standards within the church<br \/>Students should not run, yell or be disruptive while in the church building.<br \/>Students must not damage the church property. Parents will be financially responsible for<br \/>damage caused by their child, even if the damage is the result of an accident.<br \/>Good stewardship of all our property is a Biblical standard that is very important to us. All of us<br \/>must help keep the church and grounds clean and free of trash.<br \/>If your student or family abuses the church grounds \u2013 it can be grounds for dismissal from the<br \/>church and\/or the program.<br \/>Children should be in a class or with a parent\/guardian at all times.<br \/>There will be absolutely no rough housing or contact play between students within church<br \/>grounds. Our bodies belong to us and only us. Physical play and rough housing will not be<br \/>tolerated and will be addressed by the program.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Building Maintenance and Clean Up<br \/><\/b>The upkeep of the classroom is the responsibility of the teacher and the class. The teacher may<br \/>delegate responsibility in order to promote servant qualities in each student. Classrooms should<br \/>remain neat and clean. Teachers may need help with vacuuming, picking up trash, leaving<br \/>chairs under tables neatly, and wiping tables and white boards as necessary. All classrooms<br \/>must be in order before class is dismissed. Students will be asked to do only reasonable<br \/>cleaning.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Field Trips<br \/><\/b>Parents have the right not to allow their child to participate in field trips. The signed Field Trip<br \/>and Activity Permission\/Waiver Form must be turned in before a student may participate.<br \/>Food and Lunchtime<br \/>There is a designated 1 hour lunch during our Thursday enrichment day. Parents are<br \/>responsible for bringing their students lunch &amp; snacks if participating in our group lunch break.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Grievance Procedures<br \/><\/b>In order to problem-solve effectively, it is important to direct people to the proper person. Should<br \/>a student or parent experience disharmony with another student, family, teacher or<br \/>administrative person, he\/she should follow the Matthew 18 principle for resolving conflict.<br \/>Please respect the confidentiality of all those involved and refrain from discussing the issues<br \/>with others. Specifically, the following steps need to be taken:<br \/>Go to the person with whom you have disharmony.<br \/>If not resolved, go to the person with a teacher or Team Lead.<br \/>If not resolved, bring the issue to the Program Lead.<br \/>If not resolved, bring it to the pastor of New Hope Church for mediation.<br \/>Enrichment classes will most likely be the perfect opportunity to train your children in these<br \/>principles regarding conflict resolution. All of the above must be done in love and with respect.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Physical Violence Policy<br \/><\/b>At Honey Frontier Enrichment Community (HFEC), we are committed to maintaining a safe,<br \/>respectful, and nurturing environment for all students and staff. Physical violence of any<br \/>kind\u2014whether verbal or physical\u2014will not be tolerated. Any incidents of physical violence or<br \/>serious altercations will be taken very seriously and addressed with a fair and consistent<br \/>accountability process.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Accountability and Responsibility<br \/><\/b>All parties involved in a physical altercation, regardless of the circumstances, must take<br \/>responsibility for their actions. Each individual is expected to reflect on their role in the situation<br \/>and engage in constructive dialogue with the other parties involved.<br \/>Physical violence will never be an acceptable response to how you feel or how someone else<br \/>makes you feel.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Potential Consequences for Physical Violence<br \/><\/b>Face-to-Face Apology:<br \/>Both parties involved will meet in person to offer a sincere, mutual apology.<br \/>This apology should reflect an understanding of each other\u2019s wrongdoings and include an act of<br \/>reconciliation (e.g., writing a letter, recording a video, creating a card, or performing an act of<br \/>service).<\/p><p><br \/><b>Written Apology to HFEC Program:<br \/><\/b>A formal letter of apology will be required, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation and<br \/>reaffirming an understanding that violence is not acceptable within the HFEC program.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Volunteer Work:<br \/><\/b>A period of volunteer work may be assigned as a way to promote responsibility and empathy.<br \/>This could be within the HFEC community or in a way that benefits others.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Class Suspension:<br \/><\/b>Suspension from classes may be implemented for a defined period, depending on the severity<br \/>of the incident.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Repeat Offenses:<br \/><\/b>A second offense involving physical violence may result in removal from the HFEC program.<br \/>This decision will be made with careful consideration, always aiming for the best interests of the<br \/>student and the community.<\/p><p><br \/><b>Confidentiality and Respect<br \/><\/b>In the event of a physical altercation or grievance, it is critical that no one discusses the matter<br \/>with external parties. Gossiping or spreading rumors about such situations is strictly prohibited.<br \/>All matters of this nature should be handled directly with the HFEC program lead. We expect<br \/>every member of the HFEC community to handle these situations with maturity, confidentiality,<br \/>and respect.<br \/>Our goal is to foster a peaceful and positive learning environment for all. Through accountability,<br \/>reflection, and resolution, we aim to help each individual grow and learn how to navigate<br \/>conflicts in healthy, respectful ways.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Personal Items<br \/><\/b>HFEC is not responsible for any items lost or stolen. If distracting in the class, any personal<br \/>items brought to enrichment classes may be confiscated by the teacher and returned after<br \/>class.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Playground Policies<br \/><\/b>Parents desiring to let their children play on the indoor playground must supervise them. While<br \/>we do try to have parents monitoring between our enrolled families, they are not there to watch<\/p><p>children that they have not volunteered to be responsible for, and\/or correct their behavior, but<br \/>to ensure the area is safe for them to play. It is the parent\u2019s responsibility to monitor their<br \/>children. In keeping with New Hope and HFEC policy, play weapons, i.e.; guns, swords, etc. are<br \/>not permitted at HFEC.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Sweet Success Gazette<br \/><\/b>Please Keep up to date with our monthly Sweet Success Gazette for new events and<br \/>information.
